Elite 8 ends season for Spartans

The Bixby Spartan boys basketball team finished their season Thursday after the Elite 8 game during the 6A state tournament. Playing nationally ranked Edmond Memorial High School on Thursday the Spartans shot short with a 57-49 final score.
This was Bixby’s second year to make an appearance at the 6A tournament and the Spartan bleachers will full of enthusiastic fans.
Coming off a 48-46 victory over Stillwater and a 47-28 win over Booker T. Washington to snag a place in the Elite 8, the Spartans faced Edmond Memorial, the 35th ranked team in the nation on Thursday March 8.
The Spartans looked for redemption after being knocked out of the tournament last year.
Led by senior captain and Tulsa World Player of the Week, Jacob Bittle. The 6’4’’ senior guard had 36 points and 16 rebounds during the Area Tournament. He scored 26 of those points in the 48-46 win over Stillwater on Friday and played some great defense in the 47-28 win over Booker T. Washington on Saturday.
In the regular season, he has been averaging 12.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.
